Dr. Antony Wood, PhD, RIBA ​

Dr. Antony Wood is Professor-in-Practice and Director of the Masters in Tall Buildings and Vertical Urbanism (MTBVU) program at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), CEO of Antony Wood Consulting LLC, and Visiting Professor of Architecture at Tongji University, Shanghai. Renowned globally for his expertise in tall buildings, vertical urbanism, and sustainable cities—especially mass timber construction—he led the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) as President/CEO from 2006–2025, transforming it into a global, multidisciplinary organization.

Dr. Wood’s career spans international architectural practice, scholarly research, and leadership in advancing sustainable high-rise design. He has steered pioneering research projects in mass timber, authored influential books and technical guides, and curated major industry exhibitions. Through teaching, research, and advocacy, Dr. Wood continues to shape the future of sustainable vertical urbanism worldwide.

Natasha Jeremic, MASc, P.Eng., LEED GA, WbLCA AP

Natasha Jeremic is a Professional Engineer with over five years of experience in the building industry where she has worked in design, building performance and project management. She is currently the Sustainability Manager for Codes and Standards at the Canadian Wood Council, where she leads strategic initiatives focused on low carbon construction, energy efficiency, durability, and circularity. Natasha leverages her experience in structural design, building envelope consulting, and whole life carbon accounting to showcase how wood products contribute to a sustainable, low carbon built environment. She is passionate about raising awareness of wood’s role as a viable solution in advancing climate-conscious construction.

Adam Gerber, M.B.A., P.Eng., M.A.Sc., CPHC

Adam is the CEO and Principal of ASPECT Structural Engineers and a leader in mass timber engineering. His engineering achievements cover a variety of unique and complex structures utilizing different building materials, and he has a breadth of hands-on and technical experience unique in the field. Adam earned his master’s degree in structural and earthquake engineering from the University of British Columbia in 2016, where his research focused on the development of timber-concrete composite technology and vibration performance of floors. Prior to and throughout his degree in civil engineering from the University of British Columbia, Adam gained experience in the design and construction of timber structures as a carpenter, foreman, estimator, and, ultimately, structural engineer. This experience enables him to view projects from the perspective of designers, builders, and project managers, leading the creation of cost-effective, constructible, and efficient solutions.
Adam is deeply committed to sustainability and is a certified Passive House Consultant. A respected public speaker, he has shared his insights on mass timber at numerous industry conferences, including BuildEx Vancouver, the World Conference on Timber Engineering, and the International Mass Timber Conference in Portland.

Michael Cook

Michael is a Senior Architect at Fathom Studio with over 15 years of experience leading diverse projects throughout Atlantic Canada. His work is driven by a commitment to addressing housing affordability through innovative, purposeful design solutions. He maintains that design can be both thoughtful and attainable, delivering meaningful impact without compromising accessibility or quality. Known for his collaborative approach, Michael brings a balance of creative vision and practical solutions to deliver projects that have a meaningful, lasting impact.

Nicole LeBlanc

Nicole LeBlanc is a project architect at Fathom Studio with expertise in wood, hybrid-timber, and adaptive re-use design. She holds a Master of Architecture from Dalhousie University and has over 15 years of experience spanning architecture and design-build. A certified Passive House Designer and RHFAC professional, she combines hands-on construction knowledge with strong coordination skills. Nicole is passionate about sustainability, accessibility, and creating inclusive, community-focused, welcoming spaces, and she values the collaborative and integrated design process at Fathom Studio.

Brandon Searle, P. Eng., M. Eng.

Brandon Searle is the Director of Innovation and Operations at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Off-site Construction Research Centre. He has a bachelors and masters degree in civil engineering and is pursuing his PhD. He joined the OCRC as it’s first staff member in 2019 and has since helped grow the centre to over 20 staff and students, executing over 65 R&D projects with construction companies across Canada. Brandon volunteers with several associations including the Canadian Society of Civil Engineering, Building Transformations, Modular Building Institute, CSA Group and more. Brandon grew up in the maritimes and currently resides in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Matthew Bolen, BAS, M.Arch, OAA, MRAIC, CPHD

Matt Bolen, a Director, Architect at mcCallumSather, is immersed in combining his deep understanding of conventional construction with advanced research and innovative development initiatives. With a focus on multi-residential building design, Matt’s expertise bridges across small-scale urban infill, mid-rise, and multi-phased high-rise development. His leadership is pivotal in addressing the complex challenges of residential design, ranging from supportive housing and affordable housing to rental properties, market properties, and high-end condo developments.

Licensed as an Architect with the Ontario Association of Architects and certified as a Passive House Designer, Matt’s passion lies in leveraging innovative techniques such as mass timber, DFMA panelization, modular construction, and high-performance design to create sustainable and functional built forms. His commitment to socially responsible architecture is evident through his diverse portfolio of impactful projects, including CLT (cross-laminated timber) affordable housing developments, rapid housing initiatives for supportive services, and mixed-use adaptive reuse projects.

In addition to his role at mcCallumSather, Matt contributes to the academic community as a lecturer and adjunct professor at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture. A graduate of Waterloo Architecture, his Master’s thesis focused on the urban revitalization of mid-sized cities, using Kitchener-Waterloo as a case study, further highlighting his dedication to urban development and revitalization. Matt’s expertise and innovative approach continue to shape the future of residential architecture.

Andre Lema

Andre Lema, a seasoned professional in the wood industry, brings decades of experience and expertise. Starting as a carpenter and advancing through a degree in Construction Engineering at NAIT, Andre has been instrumental in driving the success of Western Archrib. His passion for wood and dedication to fostering client relationships have made him a key figure in the industry.

Lee Scott

Lee Scott studied Biosystems Engineering at the University of Manitoba and received an MBA from the Saundermoen School of Business. Throughout his career Lee worked as a legal and construction surveyor, a Civil engineer, and now applies his extensive background in construction and design to his current role as Director of Sales for Element5 in Canada and the United States.   

Lee has worked on mass timber projects of all sizes and market segments across North America and has an intimate knowledge of the Mass Timber design for manufacturing and assembly process. Lee is someone clients can turn to for feedback, pricing and technical support on projects.

Patrick Crabbe

Simon Adnet

Simon Adnet, Director of Pre-Construction and Sales, joined Nordic Structures in 2013. An engineer trained in France, he has over 15 years of experience in the field of mass timber, in which he actively contributes to the development of innovative and diverse projects.

With his expertise, Simon supports clients and professionals from the earliest design phases, helping identify optimal technical and economic solutions tailored to the specific needs and constraints of each project. He works closely with internal teams and external partners, and is recognized for his ability to foster a collaborative environment that optimizes collective expertise to support ambitious projects. He has played a key role in the development of numerous institutional and commercial buildings, as well as large-scale multi-storey structures across several Canadian provinces.

Known for his commitment to advancing the industry, Simon regularly participates in technical and strategic roundtables organized by the sector, contributing to the evolution of best practices and standards in mass timber construction.
